Can implied relationships draw its data from groups?

Hi again, this may be a misunderstanding on my part but I would like to figure it out. After reading the Person & Family Field Guide (I think), I thought that implied relationships would be automatically picked up when individuals are placed in the same group, e.g., Adam and Beth would have an implied relationship when they are placed in the same small group and attended at the same time. This is not the case for us however and it seems that we have to manually add implied relationships. Am I misunderstanding the implied relationships category and how it works? Thanks so much in advance.

As far as I'm aware (this may have changed in 4.0) for the most part implied relationships aren't used a lot yet in Rock outside of the Facebook integration.

Thank you so much for this answer and apologies for the very late response! I think I now understand what the 'implied' indicates--I assumed it was an algorithm for Rock to figure out whether people are related because they were somehow in the same small group or perhaps attended multiple conferences at a consistent basis--but I think I understand that Rock is leveraging other social networks to determine implied relationships.

That helps A LOT to understand this function and definitely means that we have to rethink some of our implementation strategies. Thanks so much Arran, and again, sorry for the late response! =
