Inactive Groups

I wanted to make a separate Group Viewer page for inactive groups. There are groups we don't want to delete for history's sake but we also don't need them listed with the active groups. I found a question from over a year ago that said it was going to be an option added to the block but I'm not seeing that option. Given the current sinus infected, headache ravaged state of my brain it is entirely possible that I'm simply missing the setting somewhere! Can someone help a girl out?

Hi Keley, are you trying to create a separate page for groups marked 'Inactive'? Or could you provide a link to the feature you're trying to replicate?

Jeremy, Yes, I'm wanting to create a separate page for groups marked inactive. I thought about making a new top-level group just for inactive groups but that would require recreating at least part of our main group view tree to keep some kind of order. That just seems like more work than it should be.

Hi Keley, what we've done is create a top level group called Small Groups and put two lower level groups called Active and Inactive below it.  Then just sorted the groups manually into these categories.

To create a separate page of just inactive groups, you can create a new page and add the Group Tree View block to it.  Then just specify the Root Group in the block settings and it'll only display the child groups of that root.  In our environment, we specified Inactive Groups as the root group and all the groups below it show up without displaying anything else.

    Hope that helps!

Hey Keley. There's no current way to filter the group viewer so that includes only inactive groups. Looking at 4.0 it's possible to exclude inactive groups though. I can see the value in having the option so I'd suggest submitting it to the core team as a new idea at (rockrms.com/ideas).
