0 Group Security 1 Don Smallman posted 9 Years Ago Hi, We are trying to give a regular user the ability to change Small group times, names, etc. Without giving them Admin Access. Does anyone know how to do that? I have tried several different ways, but the user keeps getting this message. "You are not authorized to save group with the selected group type and/or parent group."
Don Smallman 9 years ago Yes, but once they are added, can they change the name of the group or make any other edits? :-)
Jeremy Turgeon 9 years ago The ability to edit groups is located elsewhere. For now, you'll need to go to that group, click the security lock icon and modify permissions for each group they'll need access to edit. Hopefully this will be changed in a future update to make group security more user friendly.
Don Smallman 9 years ago Thanks! What's weird is that the other groups show that they have inherited permissions from the main small group section.
Don Smallman 9 years ago OK So it seems like a bug. The inherited permissions for the groups are not working. I added them again to be able to edit a group that they already had inherited edit permission and now it works. Is this the same thing that you are seeing? I wonder if it has been reported. I am almost positive that this was working at one time.
Jeremy Turgeon 9 years ago I'm getting the same thing. New groups don't inherit the top level group's permissions but do inherit permissions from other groups at the same level.
