Help! Assimilation via Workflows

Hello Rock community!

I'm pretty new to Rock and to be honest the furthest I've gotten thus far is moving over our membership database from our previous one onto Rock. Now as I watch the videos and read the manuals I'm getting a bit lost on some of the terminology and, I suppose when it comes down to it, the thinking and process behind the how and practical what of using and creating workflows. The "Blasting Off With Workflows" manual is great; however, as this "programming" of sorts is 100% new to me, I'm hoping someone on here can point me in the right direction!

Right now we are trying to establish our assimilation process electronically and as we've made the transition to Rock as our primary system, we are trying to utilize workflows. Here's what I would like it to look like based on what I actually do understand about workflows and activities:

  1. Initial Entry of First Time Guest
  2. Send a Postcard (or at least send a message to the person doing postcards that there are new guests to send out to)
  3. Friendly Phone Call (again, sending an email to the one doing phone calls that week)
  4. Email from Pastor (template with some sort of code to fill in recipient information)
  5. Email/social media contact with invitation to return this weekend
  6. Invitation to attend the next discover the link
  7. Start new workflow: discover the link workflow

Here's where I'm stuck - right at the beginning! I'm unsure on how to move forward because ideally I would want the workflow to begin upon the addition of a new family/person into the Rock system; the rest of the workflow would persist upon that initial entry and continue as the following activities are completed (obviously, because that's how workflows work!).

I would love to get ANY help that ANYONE can offer! I would also love to hear from anyone who has created a similar workflow!

Thanks in advanced!

- Bryan

    Hey Bryan,

Sad to see this has gone without response. Do you have any specific questions I can help you with here?
