Contact and other forms

Hi, can someone explain how the contact form is supposed to work?  I have submitted data in the form several times and have NO idea where it is going.

Also, what is the best way to create a form to get people to sign up for volunteer positions.  Does this require a workflow?

Thanks,
Don

Hi Don... see my update over in the other thread. http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/Ask/Troubleshooting/Questions/386

I think I found the problem... you just need to edit the Topic strings to be correct. Also, users do NOT need to be logged in to use the form, which would defeat its purpose.

You need to edit the External Inquiry workflow (General Settings | Workflow Configuration) to assign a worker to each type of inquiry (general, pastoral, etc). I think by default your initial Admin user is assigned to all of them. That said, I just discovered the External Inquiry workflow is NOT sending emails for me like it used to, and I asked if anyone was seeing similar over here http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/Ask/Troubleshooting/Questions/386  Perhaps you're having the same issue and thus the emails are not even being sent to the Admin user like the workflow defaults to?

Regarding volunteer positions... you could try to roll your own via Workflows, but according to the Road Map Volunteer Scheduling and Management are coming soon, so I would hold out for those features if possible (in all likelihood they will in fact be based on workflows, but with specialized actions that don't exist yet.)

    Thanks Jim!

Yes I had changed the general inquiry to go to me, but never recived anything,  So, the emails are not being sent, I wonder if the RockRMS team knows.

Today, I did find the inquiries I submitted, under / Workflows/ External Inquiry/ Workflow Detail.  I would have assumed it would be under "My Workflows".

The image below makes it look like the process is not working, as it never even got down to the "Test for General inqury" step.  Is that what you make of this too?

    Jim,

Do users have to be logged in to use this form?  Or can anyone use the contact form?

Thanks Jim, does the box: "Activated with Workflow" need to be checked for each step?  I read the section that talked about this but still am not clear if they all need to be checked.  If they do, I would have assumend that they would have been checked by default already.

The workflow should work as it's configured out of the box (don't mess with "Activated with Workflow" for this one)... except for the Topic filter string needing to be edited. I know it used to work so something changed along the way.
