Grades for Pre K

Most of the preschools and school districts in our area offer 3K and 4K. We've structured our preschool classes to function in that manner because that is what our parents are comfortable with. Beginning with 2 year olds, our weekend childrens classes are based on school year not age. i.e. if your are 2 before Sept. 1 then you are in the 2K class and will move up to 3K the following Sept. 1. I'm wondering how to make that work in Rock. We don't really want to have to create groups for 2K-4K but I don't see any other way to set up the check in. Any ideas? I know we are probably uniquely structured with this.

Thanks!

Yes, that would be what I'm looking for.

    Hi Keley,

To check in kids based on a specific criteria (like 2k, 3k, 4k, etc.) that isn't already in Rock you can just add new ability levels to their records.  Then add a new Check-in Group to the Sub-Area you want in Check-in Configuration.  In this example, you'd create a new group (perhaps under Nursery/Preschool Area) called 2K with its criteria being Ability Level = 2K.  You can add new ability levels in Admin Tools > Check-in Settings > Ability Levels.

    Hope that helps!

    Jeremy,

I played with that for a while. The problem with doing it by abilty level is that it allows the parents to increment that level at any time they choose. While most of our parents understand the children move up on the school year cycle, putting that option in front of them is just going to lead to confusion.
