Azure Backups

We are considering moving to Rock and would use Azure if we do. I am curious about how people handle backups with Azure.

Locally I use Veeam for our VM's but not sure that is an option with Azure.

There are two components backing up Rock in Azure... the VM, and the SQL db. Docs on backing up the VM (where the Rock webapp runs) using Azure tools can be found here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/tutorial-backup-vms. I'm not 100% sure, but I _think_ the AzureDB backups happen automatically to give you point-in-time recovery options, but Google should be able to confirm.

One thing that's not very well integrated (today) with Azure is Veeam. You can "restore to Azure" (for disaster recovery purposes) a local VM with Veeam, and you can run Veeam Endpoint client IN a Azure VM to push it back to your local Veeam repository, but that's about it. There's no "backup my Azure VM to my local Veeam repository" option in the product... but I remain hopeful they will add it someday.

Bottom line is that there are plenty of ways to back up your Azure VM and db, so I wouldn't not let that hold you back from making a decision to run Rock there.
