How to generate and assign a custom MemberID to each member?

Greetings !

We would like to assign an unique ID (e.g 'SM0001') to every member. 

1) Is there a way to generate such uniqueIDs?

2) How to attach this ID to each member through the Person Detail screen?

Any pointers would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

    Each person has a unique id in rock if you go to Rock Dashboard >Admin Tools > security > users and click on a user you will get a url with /Person/# where # is a number that is the UserID or MemberID.

    If that doesn't work for your needs then you can add a new attribute value in Rock Dashboard > Admin Tools > General Settings > Person Attributes then click the plus sign at the bottom of the block. However, this method will require a manual entry for each user.
