Generating and Emailing Contribution Statements

Howdy!

I wanted to ask everyone how you're handling end-of-year contributions statements with Rock RMS?

We're looking for a way to generate and email the contribution statements to everyone with email addresses in one process. My current plan is to create a workflow that would do this for us, but I wanted to hear the other solutions people have come up with.

Thanks!

We have a "Self Serve" setup where the user logs into their account on the (Rock) web site and generates their contribution statement themselves... this functionality was added to core in Rock v5 (still in beta, but due for release soon!) The problem with emailing statements is that email is insecure, and I imagine more than a few congregants would not like getting their contribution statement "in the clear" like that, via plain-old SMTP email. You could get around that with cumbersome schemes like password-protected zip attachments, and then providing the password within the user portal, but that would take a ton of custom code work to automate.

We've been doing the self-serve thing for about four years now with very little complaint... we probably have to manually generate and (snail) mail about 50 statements per year, which is nothing compared to the thousands that get generated via self serve portal.

Ah, that's good to know about Rock v5! That is really good to know. This is another big thing that v5 is solving for me! =D

And yes, Shelby v5 would password protect the files that were sent out to people via email.
I was looking into self-serve, but figured it would have been too complicated for me to get setup in time. Rock v5 changes this perspective.

    Thanks for the quick response!
