What is the recommended method to keep a log of Membership History?

I need to keep a log of the Membership history so that I can print a report/record/log of all membership events since the church was established.  The challenge is how to keep record of persons who have multiple entries in this log, e.g. (a) became a member thru confession of faith (b) transferred out (c) transferred back in (d) death.

Standard fields will record only 1 membership-in event and 1 membership-out event, whereas, in this example, there are 2 "in" events and 2 "out" events.

One possible solution is to create a new record for the person when he/she becomes a member the second time, but there are probably repercussions to this solution.

The person history already tracks these kinds of things... example, if the person's Connection Status changes from Member to non-attender (or anything else), it gets recorded on the person's history:

The trick is using SQL to grab this data if you need to report on it. The Dynamic Data Block is probably the right tool for this as you can give it a SQL query and it will present a grid or Lava-formatted results. As for the query itself, that's out of my expertise and you'll probably need more help from someone who knows it.
