0 Deleting a Data View 4 Michael Garrison posted 9 Years Ago Am I missing something, or can a data view not be deleted? I see "Edit", and therein, "Save and Cancel", but no way to delete a data view I was trying to create and now have no use for...? I feel like that can't be right, but I read through the documentation on reporting and I couldn't find where it mentioned it either. Someone please point out the obvious that I clearly can't find for myself =)
Michael Garrison 9 years ago Good ideas David, but I'd already "dumbed down" the view as much as possible- the only filter left within it is "People" with "Age" equal to "-1" (obviously an empty list). For permissions, it's set to normal now, so "RSR - Rock Administration" is set to "Allow" Administrate and Edit, and "All users" are set to "Allow" View. Both of my accounts are set up as Administrators (my non- UserId=1 account simply is a part of other groups as well) and certainly there are no data views or transforms that the Administrator (UserId=1) account doesn't have access to.
David Leigh 9 years ago Try setting "RSR - Rock Administration" to "Allow" for View as well? Also, are there any "Deny" permissions in your Security setup?
Michael Garrison 9 years ago No change adding the "View" permission. The only Deny permissions are "All Users" on "Edit" and "Administrate", at the very bottom of the list.
Michael Garrison 9 years ago Still no change (!)This is now the only "Item Permission", so it's necessarily at the very top of the list, above the "Inherited Permissions", so I can't imagine what's overriding it...
Michael Garrison 9 years ago Ahhhh....it was used in a report. As soon as I deleted the report, the "Delete" link showed right up.THANK YOU!
David Leigh 9 years ago You're welcome! I'm pleased that we finally got to the bottom of this.I'll fix the UI behavior so that the Delete button is available, but shows an error explaining the reason why the Delete can't proceed in this situation. At least we can save someone else from having to go through this process!
Michael Garrison 9 years ago OK you're right, I see that on other reports. But not on this one, where I've set up some tighter security. Which is odd since "RSR - Rock Administration" is set to "Allow" under Administrate (only below a custom security group I set up which Admin is not a part of).Guess I'll have to play a little to figure out where I went wrong with my custom security settings...Thanks
