Update issues

Hi, after upgrading to 3.1.  There are several windows (like Child Pages, Page Properties, etc...) that pop to the bottom left corner of the screen.  I can not see the entire window, nor does the window work.  I cannot click on anything in the window, nor can I close it.  I am using IE 11

Should I restore, or is there a fix for this?

Thanks!

I had a similar issue with a theme I had edited but when I went back to the "stock" theme it went away. At this point I have not debugged what went wrong with my theme.

Have you tweaked your theme at all? Could that be causing it for you?

  • Don Smallman

Yes! When I load the default stark theme it works. I am using a modified stark theme and was not all that good about documenting what I have changed. The default does not look the way I need it to. I will have to go back and figure out everything I changed.

Hi DJ. Have you tried creating a new theme (Based on the Stark Theme) without making any changes, to see if it works? I have done this and I have the same issue with a new theme that has not been modified.

  • DJ Grick

I will add this to my to do list but it probably won't make it to the top for a few days. I'll let you know what my results are.

So, all of your dialog boxes appear in the center of your screen? If, I'm not sure what to do. Because the stark theme works for me, but not the copy. This makes no sense to me.

    Did you get this sorted?

    • Don Smallman

Yes! Sorry Arron. I forgot about this. I had to make a copy of the 3.1 theme and redo all of my modifications. I will mark this answered.

The stock dialog layout file ( ~/Themes/Rock/Layouts/Dialog.aspx ) changed quite a bit in 3.1 now that modals are resizable.  If you aren't using the stock layout file for dialogs, you'll want to make sure your custom one is based off the new ~/Themes/Rock/Layouts/Dialog.aspx.

    • Mike Peterson

These types of changes should be rare, so feel free to customize. We just had to make a small architectural change to that layout file for the new modal features in 3.1.

Mike, if I didn't change the dialog.aspx fle, is it possible that it got corrupted? Thanks. Still trying to resolve this.

Mike, there has to be some other issue.  I just made a copy of the Stark theme and loaded my website using that theme, before making any modifications, and it does the exact same thing.  See how the Page Properties box does not all show on the screen?  Plus, the window is not active.  I cannot make any changes, and cannot even close the window.

    Can you try?  Thanks!

      Hi Mike,

For this last test.... All I did was create a copy of the Stark Theme called StarkTheRock3_1. No other modifcations were done to this theme.

      Thanks,
      Don

Don- Sorry for jumping in, but I think what Mike is saying is that the dialogs (the parts you are having problems with) are part of the ROCK theme, regardless of what other web-site theme you are using for the site itself. So changing to a default Stark theme would have no effect IF you somehow modified the dialogs in the Rock theme (which is the theme used for the Rock portal itself.) You may have understood exactly that... I just wanted to be sure.

    • Don Smallman

      Hi Jim,

Sorry if I am not understanding. You are talking to a non programer :) I have made no changes to the ~/Themes/Rock/Layouts/Dialog.aspx file.

All I know is that when I use the 3.1 Stark Theme, the dialogs work. If I copy the theme to a new name and make NO other changes, the dialogs do not work.

So, since I have made no changes to the ~/Themes/Rock/Layouts/Dialog.aspx file. None of this should be happening, if I understand what you are saying.

    • Don Smallman

Sorry Mike, I guess I misread your question. No, I have never made change to the Rock theme. If I were to do that, I would have made a copy :-). If you make a copy of the Stark theme (No other changes) and then load your site using the copy, do your website dialog boxes work properly?

    • Don Smallman

If someone can make a copy of the Stark Theme for me on the rocksolidchurchdemo.com site, I can test it myself. I assume that the demo site is on 3.1. Thank you!

Is anyone else that is using a modified Theme having this issue?
