AD Authentication

I have set up AD authentication. When I switch a user to AD Authentication and try to log in I get this:



Any suggestions? Database authentication works fine. Two server local hosting, server 2012 R2. Sql Server 2016

    It was the IP address instead of DNS name. Thanks!

    System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalServerDownException System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement The server could not be contacted.
    System.DirectoryServices.Protocols.LdapException System.DirectoryServices.Protocols The LDAP server is unavailable.

    Are there specific firewall ports that I need to open for this? If so would it be encrypted LDAP? I tried opening regular LDAP ports and no bueno.

      Ok, I assume you're pointing at a valid domain controller? Have you tried using the IP of the DC instead of a dns name? Maybe post a screen shot of your Active Directory Properties screen.
