Take Event Attendance Using Registration Instance

We are looking for a way to take event/class attendance based on the registrants in an event registration instance list without having to create a separate group for the event/class to use just for taking attendance.

    Unfortunately you cannot do that. You can only take attendance on a group, which is why Registrations let you automatically place people into groups (you don't need to use the group placement functionality). Here we created a "Class/Event" group type just for this. We've also started experimenting with NOT doing "one group for every event" model, at least for events that recur. So, if the same Class or event happens 4x/yr, we'll have a single group for that class that people get placed into each time the class rolls around (and a new registration instance places registrants there). After a class is done, we inactivate all people in the group so that the only active people are the NEW class being added.We don't delete them from the group, as that would remove their attendance.

    This lets us keep multiple "occurrences" for attendance on a single group that represents a single kind of class/event without letting the group list in Attendance Analytics grow to crazy lengths. So far it's working well.
