Is Rock a Good Fit For My Organization?

We’re so glad you’re considering Rock as a tool to power your organization. As a relationship management system, Rock is uniquely poised to supercharge ministry connections. Here’s a guide to everything you’ll need to know for a successful evaluation.

Rock FAQs

Learn

Rock is different than other church management systems. As a 501(c)3 non-profit developing an open product, we’re in the ministry trenches with you. Let’s start with the basics about how Rock works.

Community

You are not alone. The Rock community consists of hundreds of churches actively working together to share best practices and overcome ministry challenges. Check out the list of churches currently running on Rock.

Demo Site

Take it for a spin. Our free demo site is available for anyone to use. See what Rock looks like from the inside and see what you can do first-hand. Stroll through the features and do a little window shopping in the Rock Shop.

Planning Guide

The Planning for Rock guide was written just for you. It outlines the steps involved in planning a move to Rock and how to set your team up for success during the implementation phase and beyond. Why re-invent the implementation wheel?

Choose

Rock was built for maximum flexibility. That means there is always more than one way to get where you want to go. No other system can offer almost infinite options. So that means there are a few decisions you’ll need to make ahead of your move to narrow down which is the best choice for your organization.

Hosting

Rock is a powerful enterprise-level platform that requires a server to operate. Currently there are a couple of options to choose from when hosting Rock. We'll break it down for you.

Migration

Moving can be a painful process, whether it is your home or your data. You’ll want a strategy for your data migration ahead of time. Thankfully, just like all things Rock, there are options.

Support

Remember how we said Rock is a little different? The product support model is one of those areas. Having worked unsuccessfully with product support teams ourselves in previous roles, we’ve architected a model that connects real product superstars with those who need assistance. And our community loves it!

Training

Why experience unnecessary downtime for your database administrators unless you have to? Our training options will have your team successfully running with Rock right from the start.

Engage

Once you’re up and running on Rock, now is the time to really get involved in the Rock community. This community is the secret sauce in the recipe of Rock success. Luckily there are lots of ways to engage. Here are just a few to get you started.

Community Conference

Every year, we host a conference where the entire Rock ecosystem (that’s the core development team, the churches running on Rock and the Rock Partners) get together to learn and share all things Rock. Most of the content of these conferences is built upon the best practices, tips and recipes of other churches running on Rock. And the relationships forged there are powerful. This is a must-experience event for your whole Rock team.

Contribute

Rock will not invoice you. We established our model as a non-profit specifically to provide accessibility for small ministries that couldn’t afford technology. That said, your support is crucial to the core development team. If you are not a very small or new ministry, we ask for your support at the minimum suggested amount of $3.00 per weekend attendee per year. For example, a church of 1,000 weekly attendees should donate $3,000 per year. Many churches choose to move their ChMS budget line over to Rock and provide additional support above this amount. They are true partners in the work we are doing to connect people to Christ through technology tools. Set up your commitment to donate and help us plan.

You really do have to see this to believe it.

Share

Don’t keep your treasures for yourself. As you discover new best practices and recipes, ideas for new features, or possible issues, pay it forward by sharing them with the community. We’ve provided special tools just for sharing all of these with the community and the core team.

Learn from the Community

Rock is many things. A platform, a community, a ministry, an adventure. We hope these tips have given you a good place to get started with your evaluation and then do a deep dive when you’re ready. We’re rediscovering every day just how we really are better together and we’d love for you to join us. As it says at the top of every page of our source code, “To God Be the Glory.”
