Does anybody know if there is a way to prevent changing the email addresses and phone numbers on a person's profile when somebody else registers them for an event?  We seem to be spinning our wheels working our duplicate reports since we are constantly having some kind of sign-ups.

Please let me know if you have some known magic to prevent this.

    So there are some good guidelines to follow when creating an event registration, but sadly we have not found a way to completely eliminate duplicates.

    Here is an excerpt from the manual that we have found helpful when creating event registrations.

    "When an attempt is made to add a new record, existing records are evaluated and assigned a score based on the logic shown below. If a new record has the same first and last name as an existing record, with nothing else in common, then a score of 30 points (15 + 15) would be assigned.


    First Name or Nick Name = 15 points

    Last Name = 15 points

    Mobile Phone, Email or both = 15 points

    Last Name doesn’t match, Previous Name matches = 12 points

    Month and Day of birthdate = 10 points

    Suffix = 10 points

    Year of birthdate = 5 points

    Gender = 3 points"

    Kelly we've been tuning this a bit as we go for the same reasons and have settled on these registration template settings:

    This generally restricts people to registering people in their family, which works for most use cases. If people need to register guests who aren't in their family, we encourage them to share the registration link. Since it requires login and we have passwordless login enabled, the new guest winds up creating a new account in Rock as part of the registration process.
