I am spending hours trying to create a child check-in label for 2" x 3". The default labels are for a different size label, and although I've read the documentation over and over, I am just not getting it. I have a lovely label that shows in Zebra Designer on a 2x3 label and it prints fine with . However, the synapses are not firing in regards to merge codes. I see WWW, 5,6, LLL,etc on system labels, but where do I get those codes when creating a new label?

1. In ZebraDesigner you need to make sure that you've chosen "Variable Text."

2. Then, you print to file. When you print, you will be prompted for what to enter in the variable fields.

3. When you upload, Rock will auto-detect text that may be corresponding to merge codes. You'll need to remove any fields that are static text, and then specify the correct merge fields.

*Big note is that if you have any right, centered, or justified text you'll need to do some arrangement and math to expand the text areas. That's where labelry comes in.

Thank you for the reply, Kjell. I uploaded again and Rock auto-detected nothing. So, if I manually go through and add merge codes, where do I get those? Are those the inputs in ZebraDesigner in the "prompt text for this variable field" or is it the variables you must enter to print to file?

Example: I just printed a label. The security code merge field was WWW, since I saw that in other labels. BUT, it printed WWW and not a real random code. The parent label printed BXZ for the security code. Also, I have a field called "Location". The merge code is Location and it printed Location and not PreK.

Anybody, Please!

Are you using a custom font or the zebra0 font?

Can you upload your PRN file and your zebra designer file?

I don't have a Zebra0 but have the text in Zebra5. I have uploaded prn file to RockRMS. Attached are links to the lbl and prn files. If it would be easier, my cell is 740-815-1366. Thanks much!

I opened up the PRN file and it looks corrupt. The LBL file looks like it was set for an EPL printer not for the ZPL printer. This is a really important distinction. Make sure you format for ZPL, that how the whole thing works. Are your GX420D printers the Z series?

I've attached my PRN files for you to try. Let me know if these work better for you.
