Family analytics and visit date assignments

We have been going through a list of people who were assigned First Visit dates manually using a DataView prior to the release of v5, to make sure that they were appropriately assigned Second Visit dates if we can see that they did come back. There's a whole list of people who have given contributions on dates after their First Visit date, and some of them are even now eRAs, but whose Second Visit date wasn't set by the Family Analytics job. Does manually setting the first visit date short-circuit the auto-assignment of the second visit date?

The issue turned out to be documentation. The docs indicated that giving was considered in setting the dates, but it's not. So none of the contributions that we expected to set the second visit date were considered. The docs are being updated to indicate the actual behavior.

Dumb Question: Is the 'Set Visit Dates' option turned on inside the job? :)

Always good to check the basics, but yes it is. And it's assigning second visit dates just fine AS LONG AS we don't manually set the first visit date first...

    It won't override existing attendance!

The SQL for it is here if you want to see yourself :)

The people in question had first visit dates filled in manually several weeks ago. Then they came back a week or two later and contributed for the first (or second) time. Yet the Second Visit attribute remains blank. I don't think I'm asking it to overwrite existing attendance...
