Communication Issue | Exception: Failure Sending Mail

Last week right at the time of the v5.0 update (7/25) communications sent from our instance of Rock were no longer executing properly. No changes were made to any of the communication transport settings and emails were being sent prior to this date. The update to v5.2 from v4.6 was just made today, however emails are still not sending. Other information, Mandrill App is our current transporter when logging into Mandrill App it does not show any emails being delivered or rejected since 7/22.

Are you sure you're still eligible to send Mandrill emails? There was a big uproar last winter where Mandrill stopped supporting transactional email unless you also have a MailChimp account, and even if you qualify in that way, using Mandrill for anything _but_ transactional email makes using it for Rock outside of the terms of service. You can hear about that on a prior "Gunning for Mailchimp" Rock podcast here http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/Connect/Podcast

Anyway, I'm just wondering if your Mandrill finally stopped working because of all that? If that's all old news to you and you've got the proper Mailchimp account, etc, first thing I would check is if your Mandrill credentials Rock is using are still accurate.

Hey Jim - Yes we followed through and connected our Mandrill account to MailChimp several months ago now, didn't like going to a paid service, but the low monthly fee for something that had no issues was fine. One of the first things I did was check into our Rock transport settings and verify that api code and username were all still correct.
Is there any possible way that something during the v5.0 update would have caused this issue?
My other thought would be to determine if email requests sent from Rock are reaching our Mandrill account, from everything I can see on Mandrill there have been no delivered or undelivered mail since the failure exception began. Is there a way to see if Rock is generating the email requests? The only error message that I see is shown above.

Ok, great. As for something in the 5.0 update messing up Mandrill, I haven't heard of any issues but anything is possible, and the fact is that very few people are probably exercising the Mandrill transport these days because it's no longer within the terms of service to use with Rock, even if you have Mailchimp. Anyway... have you tried finding that exception in the Admin | System Settings| Exception Log so we can see if there's more to the error that might point in a direction? Also, does your Send Email job (again under System Settings) show an exception?

Can you provide the full stack trace from your exception log.
